After a long and illustrious career, Western Surety Controller and Corporate Secretary Dale Binner will retire at the end of February.
Dale joined our firm in 1979 with an accounting certificate and three years of experience. He leaves Western Surety 31 years later with a Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designation, a Canadian Insurance Accountants Association membership, an enviable record of professional achievement and the respect of his peers, clients, and co-workers.
Dale has long been a leader, mentor and innovator. His career at Western Surety began in an age of typewriters, carbon paper and onion skins. He welcomed the dawning of the high tech era, when he and nine other accountants shared one computer and one printer.
He was one of the first to recognize the computer's potential to change our industry. He designed and implemented our computer system and maintains Western Surety's bond system software to this day.
Everyone at Western Surety and The Hill Companies will miss our "go to guy" - the trusted colleague and friend whose drive and commitment have raised the bar for all of us. It has been our privilege to work with him.
Dale is looking forward to spending more time with Loretta, his wife of 31 years and their two daughters, Leah (Dinh) and Darcie.
